Spring Field

Watercolor painting of a spring field with a tree and distant river.

The snow is gone, leaving last year’s grass. In the brown and brittle covering, a crocus peeks through. A robin hops past it, pecking for seeds on the wet ground. This is when I’m sure that the long winter is over.

The river never had much ice but that is gone now too. Soon, leaves will bud, green grass will poke through the brown and full spring will arrive. Ready for another year.
